The Hundred of Hoo Academy has a fantastic opportunity to appoint a motivated and engaging individual who will join us as a Teaching Assistant from October 2022.

Our appointed candidate will provide supportfor students who have a range of specific needs and will be able to build rapport well with them, assist them with their classwork and assist the class teacher in delivering an effective and engaging lesson. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to their development. You will be working in the classroom and implementing programmes of support designed specially to meet the pupils’ needs. The role is a fantastic role for a new or established colleague who aspires to grow and develop as an outstanding Teaching Assistant within our academy.

A Teaching Assistant should be proactive, communicate well with students and teachers alike to ensure that optimum learning takes place within the class. As an academy, we are committed to the professional development of all colleagues. We offer career coaching, personalised development and wider opportunities through local Teacher Training providers to enable you to gain Qualified Teacher Status as well as professional qualifications linked to your role.

​​Key tasks and responsibilities will include;

  • Meet and greet the student/s every morning with a hand over with parents and exchange of relevant information
  • Transition between classrooms and support during each lesson
  • Support during break and lunchtimes
  • To support with access facilities
  • To attend and contribute to meetings with internal staff and external agencies, as required
  • Moving of equipment and personal aids, to report promptly with any faults with equipment
  • To have an awareness and Health and Safety and personal evacuation plans
  • To liaise with key members of staff and update health care plans
  • To support with the student’s daily organisation to ensure only relevant resources are carried around
  • To be an active advocate for students with disabilities​​​​​​​

To be considered for the role, you will need to meet the following requirements;

  • Educated to at least Level 2 Maths and English, but ideally educated to A-Level or Degree Level
  • Previous experience of working with children/young people, with a real interest in working with this age range
  • Previous experience of working with children/young people with special educational needs
  • A commitment to motivate and inspire young people, supporting them to overcome any barriers
  • Good ICT skills and practice
  • You will be committed to personal learning and development, and have a sincere commitment to sharing our long-term aims and drive

​​​​​​​This is a permanent opportunity offering an actual salary of £13,260per annum (£19,264 full time equivalent), based on 30hours per week (8.30am - 3.00pm, Monday - Friday), Term Time + 1 week inset.
