Teaching Assistant job summary

Term time only + 5 inset days. (39 weeks per year).
Hours: 32.5 per week, 8.30 am to 3.30 pm

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in creating a positive, inspiring and inclusive learning environment. Every day, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging curriculum and enrichment activities
  • Work 1:1 and with small groups to help pupils access learning and build confidence
  • Help pupils stay focused, develop independence and achieve their best
  • Offer emotional and social support, promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing
  • Prepare classroom spaces, set up activities and create vibrant displays of children’s work
  • Encourage a love of learning—this may include reading with children, sharing stories, or leading creative tasks

You’ll be a trusted member of our staff team, helping ensure that every child feels safe, supported and ready to succeed.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Trustworthy, enthusiastic and full of energy
  • Able to build warm, professional relationships with children and families
  • A strong communicator with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Passionate about making learning exciting, accessible and enjoyable
  • Adaptable, well‑organised and committed to high standards
  • Professional, confidential and calm under pressure
  • Ideally will hold the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning or be willing to complete.

Experience supporting children across the primary phase or working with pupils with social, emotional or mental health needs is helpful—but if you bring the right mindset and a commitment to developing your practice, we would love to meet you.
