Teaching Assistant job summary

Cicely Haughton School are looking for an inspiring and imaginative teaching assistant who is able to support teaching to ensure that learning is fun, practical and creative.

This resource base at Tillington Manor Primary School in Stafford has been devised in collaboration with local schools, the Local Authority and Manor Hall Academy Trust to provide early intervention for pupils to enable them to develop their social and emotional skills through a Nurture based approach whilst continuing their academic learning, resulting in their mainstream placement succeeding. The resource centre has a maximum of 8 pupils with a teacher and two Teaching Assistants.

The provision operates for 8 sessions a week, and 2 sessions a week are utilised for supporting the pupils in their mainstream schools and professional development at Cicely Haughton.

The resource centre opened in January 2020, and we have seen successful pupil reintegration and positive relationships with local schools being established.

Previous experience in a school is required, and the successful candidate will be working alongside two experienced members of staff and have excellent levels of support and supervision. Applicants with a sense of humour, a high level of resilience and capable of maintaining high standards will find the job both stimulating and rewarding.

Our staff present as excellent role models and through interacting positively with children assist in developing their self-esteem, self-worth and self-confidence i.e. qualities they need to play a positive role in their home communities.

Your approach and qualities are equally as important as your experience. Previous SEN experience would be advantageous to anyone applying for the role, although relevant training will be provided. Above all, our priority is to appoint outstanding practitioners who will make a positive contribution to the team.

Please state clearly in your application your strengths and areas of expertise. Whoever you are, you will be committed to promoting the joy of learning and the best educational opportunities for all pupils.

Manor Hall Trust operates an inclusive ethos, and our trustees offer strong leadership to the academy and are committed to honest self-evaluation and continual improvement. They have a wide range of skills and provide challenge and support in equal measure.

Informal discussions and visits to the provision are encouraged. Please contact Clare Harvey directly on 01785 337500.

Applications should be completed on My New Term – any queries please contact charvey@cicely.manorhall.academy
