About Us
Strathmore is part of The Auriga Academy Trust with Clarendon and Capella House Schools, and the aim of the Trust is to extend local SEND provision.
Strathmore school is a forward-thinking and innovative special school, currently located across the borough of Richmond in 4 campuses, with a 5th location due to open soon. All of 4 sites are co-located with local, inclusive minded mainstream primary and secondary schools and we work closely with each school to promote an inclusive partnership.
We are a happy, positive and hardworking staff, educating learners aged 4-19 with severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities and many of whom have a co-diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition. We work closely with colleagues from Educational Psychology, Health and Social Care to ensure that our learners receive all the support and challenge they need to achieve. Every learner has an Education, Health and Care Plan that details what and how they are learning, including input from Speech and Language, Occupational, and Physiotherapy.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant at Strathmore School, you will work closely with our teachers to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for primary-aged children with complex needs. We are looking to appoint an effective and caring Teaching Assistant who ensures that all children have the best learning opportunities, and you will have previous experience/understanding of working with children with a SEND need setting.
You’ll help pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through:
Tailored support for individual or small groups of students.
Providing personal care as needed to ensure students’ well-being.
Collaborating with our teaching staff to implement creative and effective learning strategies.
Encouraging independence and fostering a love of learning in each student.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships across the school community
