Salary: NJC Grade C: £25,583 - £26,403 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)
Working Pattern: This is a fixed term position working 30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year until 31st August 2026 (Monday to Friday 8.45 -15.15)
South Molton Community Primary School are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our school team working with both groups and individuals across Key Stage 2. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment.
About the Role
Working under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, you will support learning in both the classroom and small‑group settings.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils’ welfare and personal care, including those with SEND Delivering pre‑planned learning, care and support programmes Implementing literacy and numeracy interventions Assisting with planning cycles and preparing learning resources Providing clerical and administrative support to teaching staff Monitoring progress and giving feedback to teachers Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil independence Supporting school policies for safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality and equal opportunities You will also assist with supervision during break/lunchtimes and accompany pupils on trips when required.What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who can bring energy, compassion and commitment to the role.
Essential qualities include:
Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age Basic understanding of child development and learning Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning Strong communication skills, including confidence and fluency in spoken English Ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to relate well to both children and adults Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English & Maths or equivalent) Confidence using ICT, including Microsoft Office programmesDesirable (but not essential):
Experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Knowledge of SEN practices and the national curriculum Additional training in learning strategies such as literacy or numeracy NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalentWhy Join Us?
