Chiltern Way Academy Austen is a unique co-educational all through school located in Basingstoke, which provides education and care for young people between the ages of 5 to 16, with a primary diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).

Chiltern Way Academy Trust is a highly successful, award‑winning Specialist Multi Academy Trust with multiple state‑of‑the‑art campuses. Our teams work across a broad range of ASC and SEMH needs, delivering innovative, transformational education and exceptional care that changes the life chances of young people every day.

At Chiltern Way Academy Trust, we are dedicated to supporting young people with ASC and SEMH through innovative and nurturing education. We are looking for a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to help our students thrive both in and out of the classroom.

What You’ll Do

  • Support teachers in delivering learning activities

  • Work with individuals and small groups to help them progress

  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement and independence

  • Help create a calm, safe and supportive learning environment

  • Build positive relationships with students and staff

  • Assist with basic planning, preparation and classroom organisation

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone patient, flexible and enthusiastic

  • Able to build positive relationships with young people

  • A team player with good communication skills

  • Experience working with children or young people

  • GCSE English & Maths (A-C) and ideally NVQ Level 2
