About this Role

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious colleague to join our team as a Teaching Assistant (Advanced).

This role is designed for an advanced practitioner (sometimes known as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant) who is ready to use their enhanced skills and knowledge to support both our pupils and their fellow colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading Learning: You will provide cover and lead class teaching as appropriate. This involves planning, delivering, and assessing lessons under the direction of a teacher.

  • Targeted Interventions: You will plan, prepare, and deliver specific intervention programmes designed to close achievement gaps, using formative assessment to adapt provision

  • Expert Support: You will adopt diverse strategies to increase the achievement of pupils from Nursery to Year 6, including those with SEND or from vulnerable groups

Who We Are Looking For

We are open to internal (school and RHMAT) and external applicants. We are looking for someone who:

  • is an informed and efficient practitioner capable of working with minimum supervision

  • can communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals regarding pupil progress and attainment

  • is flexible in their deployment across the school to meet the shifting needs of our pupils in any year group

Why you’ll love working at Robin Hood Academy

We believe that postcode should never define potential. We have a culture of ambition and care, leading to high expectations with high support. We are a vibrant, two-form entry school in Hall Green, where our mission is clear: to ensure every child leaves us with the knowledge, skills, and strength of character to lead a life of opportunity, choice and fulfilment. We expect staff, pupils and families to "Aim High and Reach for the Stars".

  • Values-Driven Leadership: Our four core values—Courage, Curiosity, Compassion, and Courtesy—are lived and breathed by staff and pupils alike. We foster a culture where individual flair is celebrated, but collective effort is valued above all.

  • A "Family" Atmosphere: We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school where every staff member feels valued and supported. You will be joining a "Robin Hood family" that looks out for one another.

  • Innovation & Enrichment: We are not afraid to do things differently to give our children the best. From Mandarin lessons for all pupils to specialist drama partnerships with the Birmingham Rep and ballet workshops, you will work in an environment that buzzes with creativity and ambition.

  • Focus on Welfare: We know that high academic outcomes rely on strong pastoral care. Our staff care deeply about pupil welfare and ensure a safe and stimulating environment for everyone.
