Teaching Assistant Apprentice job summary

Carmel College is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant Apprentice. As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will provide essential support in the classroom, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment for all pupils. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic, caring, and eager to begin or continue a career in education. As part of the apprenticeship you will be required to attend Darlington College once per week.

Working under the direct supervision of the class teacher, you will assist with day-to-day classroom activities, support pupils with their learning, and help maintain a safe and orderly environment. Your duties may include preparing resources, supporting individual or small group work, and encouraging pupils to stay focused and confident in their learning.

You’ll also play a valuable role in promoting good behaviour, helping with classroom routines, and supporting the social and emotional development of pupils. Strong communication skills, patience, and a willingness to learn are key to success in this role.
