Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship job summary
Bishop Lonsdale CE Primary Academy (part of St Chad’s Academies Trust) is seeking to appoint a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Teaching Assistant . This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a nurturing school environment while working towards a Level 3 Early Years or Teaching Assistant qualification. We are looking for someone with some experience of working with staff to raise attainment, promote inclusion, and inspire a love of learning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, be creative and motivated and flexible in their work.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering the curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all children
- Help prepare and organise classroom activities and learning resources
- Support children’s development across all areas, including communication, social skills, and physical development
- Observe, record, and report on children’s progress
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence
- Work with small groups or individual pupils to support learning
- Assist with daily routines such as snack time, outdoor play, and transitions
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe learning environment
Apprenticeship & Training
- Work towards a Level 3 qualification
- Attend training sessions and complete coursework as part of the apprenticeship programme
- Apply new skills and knowledge in the classroom setting
Skills & Qualities
- A genuine passion for working with young children
- Caring, patient, and positive attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally
- Reliable, organised, and enthusiastic approach
Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (preferred)
- Commitment to completing the apprenticeship qualification
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
