Teaching Assistant job summary

The Governors are seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic teaching assistant for our popular and thriving school. The successful candidate will have excellent behaviour management skills and experience of working with children who, through their own specific needs, can exhibit challenging behaviours. We require an individual who shows great skills of empathy, understanding and consistency to work both in class and out across the school to support and nurture some of our more vulnerable children. Half an hour each day (12.40-1.10pm) will be spent supporting children with their play during their lunch break. We can offer you an incredibly supportive staff and school community who want the best for the children of Arno Vale, as well as excellent CPD opportunities.

We actively encourage you to contact the school prior to applying to arrange a visit or have a discussion with a member of the SLT.

Arno Vale Junior School is situated in Woodthorpe, a pleasant residential area on the northern outskirts of Nottingham. The school is an exciting place to work. We are culturally diverse and have a well-deserved reputation for the inclusion of vulnerable pupils. Parents take a close and supportive interest in their children’s education. Arno Vale is proud of its extra-curricular activities, its academic achievement, and its reputation as an inclusive and caring school. This was confirmed in May 2024 when Ofsted found that ‘Pupils are kind, polite, and respectful’ and ‘the school is ambitious for all pupils to achieve well’ resulting in an overall judgement of ‘Good’. We can offer you well-behaved and motivated pupils, CPD opportunities and a highly committed staff who have a variety of skills and interests.

Additional Information about our School can be found at https://www.arnovale.co.uk
