Aurora Wilden View opened last year and is a beautiful, purposeful school set in an idyllic 20 acre site with bright, modern classrooms and specialist areas including a brand new Science and Technology building. We provide the best elements of mainstream education with unique specialist and therapeutic input. Our wonderful team are dedicated to making a transformative impact in the lives of young people with SEMH needs and associated challenging behaviour linked to Autistic Spectrum Conditions. This is an exciting time to join our new school and be part of the ongoing growth and success. We are now looking to recruit a number of Teaching Assistants to support Primary Education within Years 2 to 4 students.
The role:
As one of our new Teaching Assistants, your role will be to support our children with their learning and general wellbeing. With small class sizes of up to 8 students we have the opportunity to build strong, successful relationships and ensure every child has the best chance to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment. Where necessary this may include supporting with care needs from time to time as well as positive behaviour management adopting a tailored approach to the individual child.
You will be expected to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the School, and to promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.
You will support the class teacher and contribute to providing high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning
Hours of work are: 40 hours per week, term time only. 8.30am start. Finishing at 5pm Mondays, 4.30pm Tues to Thurs and an early finish of 4pm on Fridays. 2.5 hours per week to carry out ongoing training and development / additional duties.
Skills and Qualifications
- Working towards Level 2 award in Support work in schools or an equivalent is desirable
- GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above qualification is essential.
- Experience within an education setting
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Some experience of working with SEMH learners with complex needs and challenging behaviour in a school environment
- Commitment to the role, the desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual
- Be positive and creative in meeting pupils’ needs
- Full clean driving licence
