Teaching Assistant (Cover Supervisor) job summary
Location: Wynstream Community Primary School
Post: Teaching Assistant
Pay: Grade C (depending on experience) approximately £12,378 Pro-Rata
Working Pattern: Part Time (21 hours per week over 3 days, 39 weeks a year)
Due to the retirement of a long-serving member of support staff, Wynstream Community Primary School is looking to recruit a part-time teaching assistant to join us from the second half of the Autumn Term 2025. The ideal candidate will mainly be based in a small KS1 provision, supporting early learning, and will be willing to cover classes across the school in the event of teacher absence, on occasion.
Wynstream Community Primary School is a very special place to work in the heart of Exeter. The school enjoys extensive grounds, providing an incredible learning environment including school sports fields, sports pitches and gardening patches.
Our dedicated team of staff and governors are working together to create a school where there is a real sense of community and where learners and teachers can flourish. Our aims are straightforward. Our vision for all in our school is ‘Aiming higher, achieving more.’ We want to develop the intellectual, spiritual, moral, social and cultural needs of each child through inspirational teaching and opportunities. We value parent partnership and are a truly inclusive school. We would welcome visits to our school so that you can see for yourself!

We can promise you a wonderful team of staff and welcoming families. Our children are eager to learn, and their behaviour is outstanding. We also have strong professional links through our Multi-Academy Trust, Education South West.
We are seeking to recruit a skilled teaching assistant who is, ideally, able to support the learning of a small number of children with a high level of additional need in the area of Communication & Interaction, as part of a committed and strong team. Applicants will require strong organisational and communication skills and have a real passion for education. Knowledge of working with children with autism spectrum conditions and ways to support the development of early communication skills would be a real advantage. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a creative and professional team.
Applicants are encouraged to apply by application form. The closing date for applications is Monday 13th October at midday. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview during the week beginning Monday 13th October 2025.
Education South West is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. This includes checks with past employers, an online check of publicly available information, including social media, and an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service
