New College Durham Academies Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at Pelton Community Primary School.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our youngest learners in the Early Years Foundation Stage, including those with Special Educational Needs, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and achieve their full potential. You will work with individuals and small groups, promote independence and inclusion, and contribute to creating a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment that supports both learning and personal development.
We are looking for someone who is committed, caring and flexible, with a genuine passion for supporting children in their early years. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, staff and parents. You will support classroom learning, contribute to assessment and planning, assist with behaviour management in line with school policies, and provide additional SEN support where needed to ensure every child is included and supported.
Applicants should hold a relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or be willing to work towards this). GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential. Experience of working with young children is required, and experience of supporting children with SEN within an educational setting is highly desirable.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking Trust that places pupils at the heart of everything we do. As a growing organisation, New College Durham Academies Trust offers staff the chance to contribute to our continued development and success. Our People Strategy underpins our commitment to being a great place to work. We focus on engaging and including all staff, rewarding and recognising their contribution, supporting professional development, and attracting and welcoming the very best people into our schools.
Our work is guided by five values: we are respectful, ambitious, collaborative, inclusive and resilient. These values shape how we work together and how we support both our staff and our pupils to achieve excellence.
New College Durham Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
For further information regarding the role please contact Elaine Robinson, Office manager on 0191 3700 260 or via email at E.robinson@bpfed.org.uk
Interviews are expected to take place week commencing 20 October.
Please note: The Trust operates a standard six-month probationary period for all new staff.
