Teaching Assistant job summary
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Eastchurch Church of England Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and support high‑quality learning across the school.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development. You will help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment and provide tailored support to individual pupils or small groups, including those with additional needs.
This post is for 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only plus one week (39 weeks).
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
- Work in small groups to help pupils access the curriculum
- Assist with planning and delivering learning activities
- Help maintain a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment
- Support pupils with SEN, behavioural, or emotional needs as required
- Contribute to assessments, record‑keeping, and reporting on pupil progress
- Supervise pupils during break times, transitions, and school activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies
