Teaching Assistant job summary
St Michael's Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint a caring and motivated Teaching Assistant to join its friendly team and provide support to pupils, starting in September 2025.
Working Hours: Part Time (30.83 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes Teacher Training Days)
We are an open and inclusive primary school, educating children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. Located in the garrison town of Larkhill, Wiltshire, our setting aims to spark interest, ignite a passion for learning and fire up ambition to inspire every child to recognise and exceed expectations. Our staff provide a challenging, yet nurturing, environment based on our Christian values and we are committed to learning outside the classroom, as much as inside; with regular trips planned and visitors invited in to help make the learning relevant and linked to both our local community and the wider world. In May 2022, we joined Acorn Education Trust, which has provided exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience.
As a Teaching Assistant, you must be able to work across all age ranges within our school and be prepared to work flexibly to support children of all abilities, including those requiring SEN support, liaising with teachers and SENCO.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents, including our existing and incoming military families;
- Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
- Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
- Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
- Is a strong team player, who can use their own initiative;
- Has a positive, patient and flexible attitude;
- Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of children;
- Has experience of teaching/working with children;
- Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training.
