Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children across our school.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and senior leaders to support teaching and learning, promote positive behaviour and ensure all pupils are able to access a broad and engaging curriculum. The role will include supporting pupils in class, delivering targeted interventions and contributing to the wider life of the school.

You will play an important part in creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning across the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
  • Work with individuals and small groups, including pupils with SEND, to support progress and engagement
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support individual learning and EHCP targets where appropriate
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing in line with the school’s Therapeutic Thinking approach
  • Support pupils with social interaction, communication and emotional regulation
  • Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources and displays
  • Supervise pupils at breaktimes, lunchtimes and transitions throughout the school day
  • Support outdoor learning, enrichment activities and school visits
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals
  • Contribute to safeguarding and the wider welfare of all pupils
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
  • Calm, consistent and able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Confident working with children across a range of abilities, including those with SEND
  • Able to support emotional regulation and use positive behaviour strategies
  • Flexible, proactive and able to use their initiative
  • A strong team player who is also able to work independently when needed
  • Committed to inclusion and high expectations for all children
Essential Requirements
  • Experience of working with children in a school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting children’s learning, including pupils with SEND
  • Good standard of English and Mathematics (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and deliver planned learning activities
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in a school setting
Desirable
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
  • Experience of delivering or supporting structured interventions
  • Experience working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Knowledge of Therapeutic Thinking or restorative approaches
  • Experience working with external professionals such as SENDCo, therapists or social care
  • First aid training
