Teaching Assistant job summary

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our teaching and support staff to mentor, guide, and inspire pupils across both curriculum and non‑curriculum learning.
Your responsibilities will include preparing classrooms and learning spaces, creating displays of children’s work, and supporting a range of planned activities throughout the school day.

You will provide additional support to pupils who require help completing tasks or engaging with learning, and you will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing. This includes monitoring pupils for signs of challenging behaviour, encouraging positive choices, and sharing any concerns with relevant staff.

You will contribute significantly to helping pupils become confident, independent learners. This will involve explaining tasks, supporting classroom activities, offering 1:1 or small‑group support, and engaging pupils in reading and storytelling opportunities.

About You

You are trustworthy, enthusiastic, energetic, well‑organised, and self‑motivated, with a genuine passion for helping children achieve their best.
You will have:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, appropriate relationships with pupils and parents/carers.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • A commitment to making learning engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable.
  • The adaptability needed to support the varying needs of individual pupils.
  • A professional attitude and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Experience supporting children across the primary curriculum — including those with social, emotional, or mental health needs — is desirable. However, if you are committed to continuously developing your own practice, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About Us

We are proud to offer:

  • A Trust focused solely on Primary education, committed to high-quality professional learning and development.
  • Fantastic learning and development opportunities include access to professional qualifications
  • Access to a comprehensive employee assistance programme, including GP and nursing services, physiotherapy and face-to-face counselling
  • Access to a local government scheme and enhanced benefits, including maternity and sickness absence.
  • An ambitious leadership team and dedicated, professional staff.
  • Motivated, happy children who are eager to learn.
  • Excellent resources and vibrant teaching environments.

Potential candidates are warmly encouraged to arrange a visit to the school. Please note that visits do not form part of the recruitment process.
