Your new school

Four Dwellings Academy is a secondary school led by an ambitious and dedicated Principal, Claire Stoneman. Having been with the school since 2022, she has established a strong leadership team that has been recognised in the school's recent 'good' Ofsted inspection, acknowledging 'leaders have ensured the school sits at the heart of the local community again'. The school has just received the best GCSE results to date, is above national for both progress and attainment, and has topped the list in Birmingham as the second most improved school for progress in the city. They are now looking to recruit a teaching assistant.
Your new role
Reporting into the SENDco lead you will provide support across all classes to children with SEND needs, this is a vital role to help us meet our commitment to pupils with Special Educational Needs. We are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school but we can't do that without dedicated support. Where necessary you will withdraw students and do productive 1-2-1's with them as we strong believe in providing every pupil with the opportunity to succeed in an environment that is calm, safe and focused on achieving aspirations. It's an exciting time to join, we are a strong team and have successfully implemented a new system, Edukey, to streamline our processes.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a L2 or L3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship or equivalent or willingness to work towards this qualification with an understanding of a range of pupil's learning needs. You will have patience in interactions with a variety of students and situations, with a calm demeanour and have empathy to understand the needs and challenges of students and be able to relate to them on a personal level. You will also be somebody who can engage and enthuse students to want to learn.
