What skills and experience we're looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join the team at Gorsey Bank Primary School. In this role You will be responsible for providing a range of suitable learning and play activities that will enhance teaching and learning for all pupils, including those with additional needs (indoor and outdoor). Furthermore, the successful candidate will provide in class support for pupils to enable them to make progress as directed by relevant teachers, delivering small group and one to one intervention programmes.

Here at the Laurus Trust we are able to provide a cutting-edge SEND provision that has a positive impact on our young people, and we are currently looking to recruit caring and dedicated individuals to join our SEND team. You will play a vital role in enhancing pupils’ progress whilst promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.

This position is contracted on a Fixed Term Maternity cover, until 31/08/2025,22.5 hours per week Term Time Only basis + 1 week (Monday - Friday 7:30am-12pm). This means you will mainly work when the school is open to pupils and will not need to work during the school holidays unless the contract requires you to do so. In total you will be in work for a minimum of 38 out of 52 weeks.

Job Purpose

  • To support the learning, personal development and inclusion of pupils in accordance with the ethos and policies of the school
  • To provide high standards of care and play opportunities for children between the ages of 4 and 11 years old in a safe, secure and stimulating kids club environment
  • To provide supervision of pupils during the lunchtime period both in the dining area and during playground activities.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent
  • Experience working in a school environment would be advantageous
  • Ideally possess prior experience within a similar role
