Teaching Assistant Grade C job summary

Due to 3 new learners due to start at Cann Bridge School, we require additional Teaching Assistants to join our team.

Cann Bridge is a special school for learners aged 4-19 with severe learning difficulties. Our school values reflect our commitment to being aspirational, learner-focused, collaborative, and progressive.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom. Your responsibilities will include implementing individual education plans (IEPs) known as Personalised Learning Goals and personalised learning strategies, collaborating with teachers and professionals, assisting with personal care tasks and helping learners develop social and emotional skills.

Cann Bridge School is seeking candidates who are eager to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become excellent Teaching Assistants. An appropriate Level 2 qualification is desirable, we also welcome candidates who are willing to work towards this qualification within their probationary period. We offer a comprehensive induction program, continuous professional development opportunities and clear pathways for career progression. We are looking for individuals who are calm, patient, have a good sense of humour and are committed to their own professional development.

We require additional Teaching Assistants for our growing pupil population and the increasing number of learners requiring 1:1 support. Hours: 29.25 hrs per week. Mon 9.15 am - 4.00 pm, Tues-Friday 9.15 am to 3.30 pm

Cann Bridge School is a registered Plymouth City Council Local Authority maintained special school for children and young people aged 3 to 19 years. Located in Estover, Plymouth, learners travel from Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall to learn, with capacity for 108 learners.

The school is designated as one for children and young people with complex needs; with their cognition and learning needs identifying a severe learning difficulty. Most learners have complex communication and interaction needs, including those identified as part of a specific learning difficulties associated with Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Condition, physical disabilities or a complex medical condition.
