Teaching Assistant job summary

Greengate Lane Academy has an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary basis till 31 December 2024 but could be extended. We provide a happy, secure and energetic community in which our pupils and staff can flourish.

As our Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support children with complex needs
  • Use specialist (Curricular / Learning) skills / training / experience to support pupils
  • Work with the Teacher to maintain and develop an appropriate learning environment
  • Promote positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with school policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have a good understanding of primary Curriculum and how it is assessed
  • Hold Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Have the ability to establish good working relationships with pupils acting as a role model
  • Can support the change process, remaining positive during times of change
  • Can provide support for all pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring they are safety and have access to learning activities.
  • Have the drive to be highly motivated and self-driven
  • Are willing to be open to challenge in order to continue to developing their skills.

Greengate Lane Academy is located in the North of Sheffield in the High Green area of the city. We are a one form entry school and have 230 children on roll ranging from three to eleven years.
