Our aim for pupils at Harris Primary Academy Croydon (HPAC) is for them to develop into happy, confident and independent individuals who are motivated by a real love of learning.
We have high expectations for every child and provide expert teaching so that our pupils make excellent progress. We place a strong emphasis on the dedicated teaching of reading, writing and maths so that our pupils have a solid foundation to build their learning in other subjects.
Our curriculum is rich, varied and engaging and we deliver a range of extra-curricular activities so that our pupils can try new things and learn to embrace challenge. We hope that every child finds something they truly enjoy and excel at during their time with us, whether that is science, creative writing, art, public speaking, sport or anything else. Our goal is to develop the whole child and personal, social and emotional development are key in enabling our pupils to flourish. Every day our pupils, teachers and staff all contribute to making our academy a warm and welcoming place to learn. I am very proud of our pupils' positivity towards their learning and the kindness they display towards their teachers and each other.
We have high hopes for every pupil, regardless of their background or starting point. Our teachers prepare lessons and activities that engage their pupils’ intellectual curiosity and develop their burgeoning talents and interests. Every lesson is devised to be engaging and fun so that children approach their learning positively and make excellent progress. Our teachers and support staff work closely with any child who is finding aspects of learning difficult and identify those who need an extra challenge.
We are very much a community school and, as well as developing local links and partnerships, we encourage our pupils to be polite, caring and outstanding members of their local community. This, we hope, will help enable our pupils to become compassionate, ambitious, global citizens of the future. We also know that a close partnership with parents and carers is vital and we do all we can to keep them informed and involved in all aspects of school life.
