Graded as Ofsted Good in September 2022 “The Market Weighton School is on the edge of the town, but for many it is in the heart of the community. It is a caring school that has values of ‘respect, honesty, compassion, resilience, industry and courage’. Our inspired pupils are happy to demonstrate these qualities because they understand their importance”. We are a small school, proud of our traditional rural heritage, yet ambitious for the future of all our students. Our size is a real strength as it enables students and their families to work closely with the teaching and support staff at the school, building positive working relationships. We believe that students achieve best in a supportive and positive environment – and that is what you will find in our school.

Due to our expanding Enhanced Resource Provision for students on the autistic spectrum, we require a Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs. Experience of working with students with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and/or physical disabilities is preferred, however TMWS would consider an apprenticeship for any candidates without qualifications who have an enthusiasm to support young people and undertake any necessary training.

As a school with a large number of students with additional needs we can offer opportunities for CPD and career progression at all levels within our dedicated team of teaching assistants.

TMWS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). As part of our due diligence TMWS will carry out an online search on the shortlisted candidates.

For further details, please see the school website www.tmws.co.uk, call Sarah Florence on 01430 876025 or e-mail sflorence@tmws.co.uk. Candidates are welcome to visit the school prior to formal application.

Please note this school does not have the resources to send individual notifications to all applicants who are not shortlisted so if you have not been contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date you should assume you have been unsuccessful.

Mission Statement -
Our aims are for students to: Have the skills and confidence to thrive in a changing world. Have the independence and resilience to take charge of their own learning and lives. Become active and responsible as local and global citizens. Have unlimited aspirations.
In order to achieve these aims we will seek as a school to: Provide outstanding learning opportunities to meet individual needs. Challenge all students to achieve ambitious personal goals. All we do at The Market Weighton School is underpinned by our 6 core values; Respect, Honesty, Compassion, Resilience, Industry and Courage as represented by the 6 Knight’s Spurs on the school crest.
Ethos -
Respect Respect for self, others and our environment, the foundation of our school values.
Honesty Be truthful to yourself and others, positive relationships are built on honesty and trust.
Compassion Caring for those less fortunate, treat others as you would want to be treated yourself, never bully or make fun of others misfortune.
Resilience The ability to keep going in the face of setbacks. Learn from mistakes and maintain a positive mind-set. Believe that you can achieve your goals.
Industry Success comes with hard work, always give your best and you will feel proud of what you achieve. Strive to make your best even better.
