What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a caring and flexible individual to work with the Health & Personal Care Team in providing assistance to students with their medication, tube feeding, and personal care needs. You will need to be sensitive to the needs of the student and respectful tailoring your approach to meet the individual needs of each student. The successful candidate will need to be patient, empathetic, and committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued and respected.
You will work across all classes, supporting a range of medical, feeding, and personal care needs for students throughout the day. This is a key role in helping ensure all students receive the support they need to thrive in a safe and inclusive environment.
Applicants should possess excellent I.T. skills and be proficient in the use of Word and Excel enable them to effectively complete various administrative and office-based tasks including record keeping, and data entry. Full training will be available for the successful candidate. A high standard of interpersonal and communication skills are required as well as the ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality and be flexible to meet the workload demand.
Seven Hills School is a Co-educational Secondary Special School co-located with a good Catholic High School near the centre of the city. We cater for pupils from 11 to 19 years of age. All pupils have learning difficulties, and many have other associated difficulties relating to communication, sensory, physical and/or medical disabilities. In common with many other special schools, pupils admitted have increasingly complex needs.

All Teaching Assistants are required to be proficient in Safe Moving and Handling techniques and Team Teach. Training will be provided as necessary. A knowledge of Makaton, basic ICT skills and experience of working with students with disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication difficulties would be an advantage but professionals with a positive attitude who are committed to their own professional development will also be considered.
