About us

We are seeking to appoint Teaching Assistants with recent SEN experience to join our hard working and dedicated staff team at Brooke School. You would be working with learners on an individual basis and within small groups. Our Teaching Assistants contribute to the assessment, planning, recording, monitoring and reporting of learner’s progress. We are driven to provide our young people with access to a varied and enriched curriculum.
Our school is part of Unity MAT, which is a small, ambitious trust comprising of ourselves and two other similar special schools. Our collaborative working means that we have shared understanding of the challenges and issues that our schools face and can work together to find solutions. The schools are supported by a strong Core Team who provide dedicated support services across the Trust.
What we need
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and ambitious school. Experience of working with pupils with a range of complex needs is desirable and a passion for enabling pupils with SEND to achieve their full potential is essential.
The core purpose of your role will be:
- Assist the Class Teacher in general classroom duties the with preparation of learning materials, displays and resources ensuring they are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the pupils.
- Working as part of a team with the flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students who may have challenging behaviours or specific learning difficulties.
- Contribute to the assessment of pupils by teachers through monitoring, recording and reporting.
- To provide support to pupils in their personal, social and emotional development and engage them in their own learning
- To provide personal care for learners, including, changing, toileting, showering, washing, dressing and undressing, care of clothes, personal hygiene where required. Communicate inter-actively, make drinks, feed, supervise learners at appropriate times throughout the day.
