What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team here at Beaufort Primary School. We need ambitious and driven candidates with a passion for helping children learn effectively. Everyone who visits our school comments on the calm atmosphere, the enthusiasm our children have for learning and the great sense of team amongst staff and children alike.
JOB PURPOSE
- To work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing specific support through both one to one or small group work under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher, SENCO and senior staff.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Work with individual pupils with EHCPs or small groups of pupils with IEPs
- Support pupils on specific programmes i.e. physiotherapy as outlined in their Education and Health Care Plan
- Assist with any behaviour management.
- Prepare activities for pupils as outlined in their IEPs.
- Keep records of pupils learning and outcomes.
- Assist with dressing, hygiene etc.
- Carry out allocated tasks under direct supervision of a qualified teacher.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. To promote and actively support the values of the school.
2. Work with individuals or small groups of pupils on learning programmes under the direct supervision of teaching staff.
3. Support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils.
4. Support the teacher in behaviour management and keeping pupils on task.
5. Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting any issues to the teacher as appropriate.
6. Support the teacher in preparing the learning environment photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of pupils work and contribute to maintaining a safe environment.
7. Assist pupils with eating, dressing and hygiene as required whilst encouraging independence.
8. Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress/activities including SEND Support plans and attend reviews when relevant.
9. Work with other professionals as appropriate including health care professionals.
10. Working with other staff in the development, planning, implementation of learning programmes for specific pupils.
11. Develop and maintain good working relationships with parents/carers.
12. Undertake relevant training and CPD.
KEY ORGANISATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The Post holder will contribute to the school’s objectives in service delivery by:
- Ensuring compliance with Data Protection legislation

- Contributing to the maintenance of a caring and stimulating environment for pupils

To be fully aware of and understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children’s Act 2004 and Working Together in relation to child protection and safeguarding children and young people as this applies to this role in our school To be fully aware and compliant to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the school’s ‘Safeguarding and Child Protection’ policy
To ensure that the Headteacher or Designated Safeguarding Lead is made aware and kept fully informed of any concerns which may arise in relation to safeguarding and/or child protection
