Teaching Assistant (Level 1) job summary

At King’s Leadership Academy Hawthornes, part of the Great Schools Trust, we are seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 1) to join our forward-thinking and ambitious academy. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant school community where students are encouraged to excel academically and personally.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Supporting classroom activities and helping to create a positive learning environment

  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and student supervision

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support, particularly for students with special educational needs (SEN)

  • Supporting literacy and numeracy activities and helping assess student progress

  • Encouraging students’ personal and social development in line with our ASPIRE values: Achievement, Self-awareness, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect, and Endeavour

What You’ll Bring:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including at least Grade 4 (C) in English and Maths

  • Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification or the desirability to complete a qualification

  • Experience working with children in an educational or similar setting

  • A positive attitude and strong communication skills

  • The ability to support children with special educational needs (SEN)

  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and a commitment to student well-being
