About Corby Technical School and the role:

We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and committed Teaching Assistant to assist vulnerable students, some with a variety of special educational needs, in our mainstream school. The post holder will be expected to support students with a variety of needs, including: behavioural, language, physical and educational. A flare for supporting students overcome emotional regulation difficulties will also support the post holder.

The primary focus of the TA is to support students of SEND and/or EAL, through the delivery of supportive learning activities - in the classroom. These activities should enhance and compliment the delivery of curriculum materials by Subject Specialists. This may be through the professional’s development of differentiated materials, abilities in scaffolding/questioning, and understanding in promoting success. We anticipate this being achieved through supporting and challenging student behaviours and maintaining regular communication between school/home.

Our new TA will work with students that have Educational Health Care plan, or those with a high level of need. Students will be supported through the professional’s capabilities in fostering confidence, self-esteem and students’ ambition to become independent inquirers and thinkers. They will also receive CPD to ensure they are able to deliver accredited interventions.

Most importantly, the successful candidate will need to show the capacity to be an advocate for students with SEND, ensuring that they promote an inclusive learning environment - for all.

Work closely with colleagues across the school, building effective relationships with all staff and students.

Have good knowledge of a broad range of additional needs and/or behaviours that students may have/present and strategies for supporting appropriately.

Sound knowledge of general school procedures in order to contribute to effective running of school day and student experiences and also procedures to support child development.

Have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

Have the ability to deal professionally and sensitively with children, parents and teachers and outside agencies as required.

Work with the utmost integrity and confidentiality.
