What we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our highly dedicated SEN team. Duties will include in class support for SEND students to give them every opportunity to make expected progress by accessing the whole curriculum. Under the direction of the SENCO and teaching staff prepare individualised and/or differentiating teaching resources for use in class. You may also be required to undertake supervision sessions in our Academy inclusion unit.

We are looking for individuals who have a very flexible and enthusiastic approach to suit the varying and sometimes complex needs of our students and be prepared to undertake any associated tasks as required. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator as they will need to liaise with parents, carers in a a manner that will support SEND students in their learning. They will work effectively on their own to support the running of the department through the management of departmental documentation, including recording, reporting, monitoring pupil progress and cataloguing and filing. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate commitment, energy, and drive to join our team and work to provide positive learning experiences for all our students.

The successful candidate will:

  • have experience of working with young people
  • Hold NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or related area, an equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • be able to address the needs of our students by supporting them in overcoming their barriers to learning
  • be able to demonstrate an awareness of emotional wellbeing and empathy for young people, to understand their needs and respond accordingly
  • be rigorous in maintaining high standards of behaviour and attitude and model this
  • be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence
  • have the ability to use all Microsoft Office packages to a proficient standard
  • have the ability to work well in a team and independently
