Teaching Assistant Level 2 job summary

To work under the direct instruction/guidance of teaching staff and other professionals to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area and in other settings.

To support pupils with a range of additional needs from profound to moderate learning difficulties, plus social and emotional needs- depending upon the school designation.

To provide short-term and short-notice cover for the planned and unplanned absence of the teacher giving instruction and guidance to pupils, managing their behaviour and keeping them on task for lessons already planned for by the teacher.

To undertake work within particular area or project as directed.
