Teaching Assistant Level 3 job summary
Millthorpe School is seeking a resourceful, innovative and enthusiastic teaching assistant to work with individuals and small groups of students with Autism (or pending diagnosis) to improve accessibility to mainstream curriculum and inclusion in school.
In Millthorpe we are proud of the work our whole school intervention team make in securing the best possible outcomes for our most vulnerable learners. We already offer a wide menu of interventions but are always keen to build on this effective way of working.
The successful candidate will have increased responsibility in that he/she will plan, manage, deliver and audit a range of interventions. These interventions may target learning or emotional need and may be delivered individually or whole class. There may also be some class support involved. The candidate will also keywork a case load of students, attending meetings and liaising with parents as necessary.
This post is paid full year and there is therefore an expectation to work outside of core hours (in line with contracted hours) to ensure maximum efficiency of interventions.
The successful candidate will have:
• Teaching and / or leading experience
• Experience of supporting students with Autism
• Experience of delivering a school based intervention
• Outstanding organisational skills
• The ability to effectively feedback to staff, pupils and SENDCo
• Flexibility to work with a variety of staff and students
• Commitment to the growing development of the Inclusion Department.
The work of the Inclusion Department is routinely under development. It is hoped the successful candidate will bring their own ideas to add to our work.
