What skills and experience we're looking for

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 4 to join our fantastic team at Prospect House Primary Specialist Support School.

The successful candidates should have suitable experience to be able to support children from EYFS to Year 6 (Ages 3 - 11).

This is a Grade 6, temporary position for 1 year, working 35 hours per week term time only plus 5 training days. The starting pro-rata salary is £27,623 and the full time equivalent is £32,115.

Main purpose of the job:

To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities across school.This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning programmes and support to individual students, small groups and on a short-term basis to whole classes. Under the guidance of a teacher, provide support in addressing the needs of pupils who require particular help to overcome barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities:

  • The post holder will support and deliver teaching and learning across the school. The successful applicant must be able to work effectively with the whole school community including pupils, parents, governors and staff.
  • Responsibility for the management and development of a specialist area in school or across a department, and or leading and deploying teaching assistants in addressing the needs of pupils who require help to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Contribute to whole school curriculum development and action planning in collaboration with the senior curriculum lead in school
  • Contribute to Senior Management Team or Departmental Management Team.
  • Line management, supervision of support staff, including implementation of performance management procedures.

Prospect House is a new free special primary school which opened temporarily on the Grange School site in September 2020. In June of 2022, the school community moved into the permanent school site in Higher Blackley North Manchester. The school is the first school in the Trust to be open north of the city offering places for children with very significant learning needs and other associated additional needs, aged 3 – 11 years old. The brand new purpose built site offers specialist facilities including a state-of-the-art hydropool including changing room to pool hoisting, ASC friendly classrooms and corridors, Food Technology Room, Library, Immersive Learning Room, Sensory Regulation Room, Parent Room, Pets as Therapy Dogs (Alfie and Ovie) and two KuneKune Pigs (Sebastian and Dolores).
