Lift Caldicotes is a vibrant and forward thinking school and is proud to serve the communities around Thorntree, which is to the east of Middlesbrough. We are within easy access from Middlesbrough and the Tees Valley and close to the A19.
If you have a passion for education, can be equally enthusiastic about learning opportunities linked to dinosaurs as to princesses, aliens or a naughty elf; are able to create opportunities for learning and progress whether inside or out come rain, hail or shine and love working as part of a team, you could be the person we are looking for!
Working as part of Lift Schools our mission is to provide every child with an excellent education, in every classroom, every day. Through our inclusive, individualised and inspirational curriculum, we aim to develop attributes and qualities that pupils will build upon as they continue on their learning journey within our setting and on into their next stage of learning. We aspire for our pupils to become productive, respectful, honest and reliable members of the community, who are resilient and determined, whilst fostering attitudes of care and respect for themselves and their own and wider community.
Our Curriculum
We are a creative and forward thinking school and our curriculum reflects this. Each area of the curriculum has a whole school policy and a scheme of work, currently being updated to reflect the new Primary Curriculum 2014 document. Our curriculum reflects the needs of the children whilst meeting the National Curriculum statutory requirements. Staff plan creative projects to encompass elements of the curriculum linked to core skills. The essential ‘core skills’ underpin all the work planned to ensure maximum impact on pupils’ progress. We operate a ‘2 year rolling programme’ for our curriculum coverage, which will allow greater opportunities for shared planning, creativity and collaboration within the EYFS, KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2 phases.
Our Specialism and Awards
We are proud to be designated a Forest School. The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment.
Many Forest Schools activities enhance the creative curriculum - an approach to teaching and learning designed to support children's natural curiosity. Sessions are designed around the needs of different groups and around a theme. Many areas of the National Curriculum are covered during a Forest Schools programme without the programmes being curriculum-led - the ethos of Forest Schools is that they are learner-led. The activities will act as a stimulus for many more activities back in the classroom.
We also hold the Arts Mark Gold, the BIG award and the Green Flag award among many others.
