Teaching Assistant job summary

Teaching Assistants

Based at Waltham Gateway Academy & Scartho Gateway Academy

32.5 hours per week

195 days per year

Two new schools in North East Lincolnshire will provide fantastic opportunities for ambitious and energetic professionals – and we are seeking exceptional individuals to be the Teaching Assistants at each Academy.

Scartho and Waltham Gateway Academies, opening in September 2025, will eventually provide for up to 210 mainstream pupils, from Reception to Year 6.

They will also include an RSP, catering for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The teaching assistants at each Academy will work closely with the class teacher, alongside the SENDCO, in collaborating with staff across the Academy to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum is provided for our children, including those accessing the RSP.

We are looking for experienced teaching assistants who demonstrate a strong desire to ensure all children are able to develop their skills and confidence, using adaptive, personalised teaching strategies.

The successful candidates will hold ambitious expectations for all students, including those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.

Both academies are already working closely with Trauma Informed Schools UK to support the development of our vision, values and curriculum. It is essential that the successful candidates champion our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with our children to create a safe learning environment.

An ability to be creative and adaptable is crucial. Experience of working with children across key stages is desirable. A commitment to ensuring the new academies are fully inclusive schools is essential.

During the first year, both schools will offer 15 places for children in reception; up to 30 places for a mixed 1/2 class; up to 30 places for a mixed 3/4 class and 6 places in the RSP. The schools will then expand, at an agreed rate with the local authority, every year. Please note, this advert is for positions in Early Years, Year 1/2 and Year 3/4 and NOT for the RSP, as these positions have already been filled, though all staff will be working together closely.

Our ethos is one of an uncompromising drive to achieve the highest standards of outcomes and behaviour in a safe environment, which encourages every student to experience an exciting and creative climate for learning. We place a strong emphasis upon pastoral care and teaching assistants will share the determination to offer the very best to our students so that they can thrive personally and academically.

The roles will start in September 2025. There may also be opportunities for the successful candidates to extend their hours through our wraparound care provision, either before school or after school. This is not essential for this application but if this something that would interest you, it would be useful to mention this in your application.

A full package of on-going CPD is in place to support our staff team as part of the whole school relational approach. This will include regular supervision.

Please visit our websites Scartho Gateway Academy - Welcome To Scartho Gateway Academy and Waltham Gateway Academy - Welcome To Waltham Gateway Academy for details about the new academies.

Please note, at this stage, it has not been decided which academy the successful candidates will be assigned to in September 2025. This will be discussed at interview.

Applications should be submitted via My New Term by 9.00am on Wednesday 14 May 2025.

Candidates will be selected for interview and contacted by Friday 16 May 2025.

Interviews will take place w/b Monday 19 May 2025.

Please contact the Executive Principal, Mr Andrew Clark, for further details about the role and/or the new academies – ClarkA@lincolnshiregateway.co.uk

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. As part of this process, all successful applicants are required to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure. Other checks including social media will be carried out in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation.
