Teaching Assistant job summary

We are recruiting for 2 Teaching Assistants to support pupils within the Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for Speech, Language, Cognition and Autism, ensuring their educational, social, and emotional development is fully supported. Delivering high-quality support that promotes communication, understanding, independence, and inclusion, both within the base and in mainstream classes.

You will need to be an inclusive practitioner with a big heart and someone who is passionate about supporting every child to reach their potential, whatever their barrier may be. At Lordship relational practice is crucial and you will need to be someone who builds positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Requirements

Essential:

- Experience of supporting children with SEND, particularly SLCN, cognition, and/or autism.
- Understanding of the impact of speech, language, and communication difficulties on learning and development.
- Awareness of autism-friendly strategies and structured teaching approaches (e.g. TEACCH).
- Ability to build trusting relationships and communicate effectively with pupils who have diverse needs.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Competent literacy and numeracy (minimum Level 2 qualification or equivalent).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
- Training or experience in Makaton, SCERTS, or social communication programmes.
- Experience delivering speech and language therapy activities or cognitive development interventions.
- Knowledge of sensory integration and regulation strategies.
- First Aid and/or Therapeutic Thinking training

Salary advertised is full time and will need to be pro-rata against the hours and weeks worked.
