We are seeking a passionate, resilient and skilled Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team at a dynamic SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school. The successful candidate will primarily support students in Music, while also offering broader in-class support across subjects when required.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need it most.

Key Responsibilities:

To support admin duties within the music department

Ensure instruments are maintained and prepared for lessons

To provide one to one when required and to ensure that appropriate work is organised and available.

To attend to students’ personal learning needs, their social, health and welfare matters.

To assist the Music Teacher with setting up and packing away instruments and equipment for lessons.

To support students during music compositions or instrument practise.

To implement specialist knowledge and/or experience to support students’ learning. Knowledge of a musical instrument skill is highly desirable.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or in a school setting is desirable.

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students and helping them succeed.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.

  • Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and support staff.

  • A positive and flexible approach to working with young people.
