Teaching Assistant - Nursery job summary

About the Role

As a Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting early years education in a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help deliver tailored learning experiences that promote curiosity, creativity, and holistic development through play and structured activities aligned to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children’s learning development in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills
  • Providing sensitive and respectful intimate care, maintaining dignity and privacy
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming nursery environment that reflects our Trust’s values
  • Assisting with lesson planning, monitoring progress, and adapting activities to meet individual needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and independence
  • Contributing to the wider school community through participation in events and professional development

About You

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Passionate about early years education and committed to a child-centred approach
  • Empathetic, patient, and understanding of the developmental needs of young children
  • A strong communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Adaptable and proactive, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledgeable about the EYFS framework and confident in supporting play-based learning
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all children
  • Enthusiastic about continuous professional development and keen to grow within a supportive Trust

A relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, or comparable experience, is essential.
