Teaching Assistant (Primary School - Complex - Cressex) job summary
We are looking to recruit new teaching assistants to join our already established primary team at our Cressex site.
Our primary departments host children with severe and complex learning needs (including complex autism), who follow a “learning for living” curriculum to ensure they leave our school with the skills to communicate their wants and needs and effectively regulate their sensory needs. Chiltern Wood follows a therapeutic approach and is well-supported by occupational and speech and language therapists who work on-site.
You will be well supported by experienced and welcoming staff within a well-run, hard-working school who put the wellbeing of pupils and staff at the forefront. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our pupils, their families and supporting professionals to enable communication, physical, social and emotional development for each individual.

Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided, however experience of a play-based environment would be beneficial. Training opportunities may include:
Using a communication book / device
Low arousal approach
Behaviour and de-escalation
Occupational therapy basics including sensory regulation
Child protection
Online safety and GDPR
Administering medication
Introduction to dysphagia
