Clarendon Academy is looking to appoint a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide reading intervention support to students in its Reading Hub. This is a wonderful opportunity to join our dedicated team of Teaching Assistants. The SEND team continues to grow and offers a supportive environment for staff to grow and develop their career.

Working Hours: Part Time (30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year including Teacher Training days). Required: September 2025.

Clarendon Academy is a thriving co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Located in the bustling town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and in easy commuter distance from Bath, we pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence and a place where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults. We are part of the Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to collaborate and improve local education.

Working with small groups of students, you will be responsible for delivering a reading programme to help our learners with literacy progress and will make a real difference to their school lives. You will work in our Reading Hub, alongside a dedicated team of other intervention teaching assistants and the wider SEND team.

We would like to hear from you:

  • Have at least grade C in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent;
  • Have a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and are able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Are self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
  • Have the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Are a strong team player, good at building relationships;
  • Have a confident, resilient and flexible attitude;
  • Are organised and enthusiastic;
  • Have experience of working with children in a school environment (desirable).

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An ambitious and vibrant place to work, with enthusiastic children and staff who are passionate about learning;
  • A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
  • Opportunities for training and progression;
  • The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
  • A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
