Teaching Assistant job summary

The Governors are seeking to appoint 1 x Teaching Assistant for 30 hours per week

on a fixed term contract until Friday 31st August 2026.

Grade 5 SCP 6

30 Hours per week

Term time only plus 1 week (39 working weeks)

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in supporting teaching and learning (or willingness to work towards)

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Experience

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting

  • Experience supporting learning in a classroom environment

Skills and Knowledge

  • Good understanding of child development and learning

  • Ability to support pupils’ learning and well-being in line with the school’s Catholic ethos

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements

Personal Qualities

  • Supportive of the Catholic ethos and values of the school

  • Caring, patient, and resilient

  • High expectations for all pupils

  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally
