Teaching Assistant (SALT) job summary

SALT Teaching Assistant

The Governors of Over Hall Community School are seeking to appoint a dedicated and qualified Speech and Language (SALT) Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team on a temporary basis until August 2027, with the potential to become permanent.

In this role, you will work under the direction of the class teacher and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO) to support pupils within the classroom. The successful candidate will have experience working with children who have social communication difficulties and speech and language needs, and will be confident working collaboratively to meet their individual needs.

The Role

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, inclusive practice for children with complex needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering targeted interventions and supporting pupils with additional needs (both 1:1 and in small groups)

  • Building positive relationships with families and working in partnership with them

  • Liaising with external professionals and implementing their recommendations to support pupil development and inclusion

    Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

  • 39 weeks per year (including INSET days)

You will work closely with the SENDCo, class teachers, and other teaching assistants as part of a collaborative and experienced team.
