Teaching Assistant - SEN job summary
Unit provision - SEN teaching Assistant
We are looking for a new energetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our SEN Unit Department. As part of the East Midlands Academy Trust we have a strong support network through our sister primary schools, Stimpson Avenue and Hardingstone.
As a primary school we have a large support network within our trust that the successful applicant would be required to work closely with and contribute to.
The role will involve working with named children who have Education, Health and Care Plans. You will be supporting pupils within the classroom setting as well as delivering interventions on a 1:1 or in small groups.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively, sensitively and empathetically to supervise and support our wonderful children with additional needs so that they can fulfil their potential and be successful in their learning. The role will include promoting independence and inclusion as well as supporting social development.
Accurate record keeping is important in this role, as is communicating and building effective working relationships with children, colleagues and parents. Attendance at review meetings may occasionally be required. You will take responsibility for the preparation of adapted resources under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Experience of working with children with additional needs
· The ability to motivate children and the skills to support their learning effectively
· Experience of leading interventions in small groups or on a 1:1
· Good communication skills
· A calm, nurturing personality
· A positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
· The desire to develop knowledge and skills and partake in continuing professional development
