Teaching Assistant job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team.

You will provide individualised support to a pupil, helping to engage with the curriculum and develop their skills in a positive, nurturing environment.

12.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time only

About the Role:

We are looking for someone:

  • Who will provide one-to-one support for a student with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met by fostering their social-emotional development, building independence, self-confidence, and self-regulation skills, all while maintaining a supportive environment.
  • Who possesses a patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • To foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that nurtures a pupil’s growth and builds their confidence.
  • To provide individualised support to a pupil, assisting with tasks as directed by the teacher, and adapting teaching methods and materials to suit the pupil's unique learning needs and strengths.
  • To collaborate with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver targeted interventions that support the child’s learning and development.
  • To monitor the pupil’s progress, documenting achievements and areas for improvement, and share feedback with the SENDCo, parents, and other professionals as needed
  • Experience working with SEND students in a similar role is desirable

Key Responsibilities

Support an individual pupil or pupils with their learning, personal care, and behaviour in line with their education plan.

Assist with implementing learning activities, adapting resources, and providing one-to-one support during lessons.

Promote the pupil’s independence, confidence, and social development.

Monitor progress and provide feedback to the teacher, reporting any concerns or achievements.

Support the pupil during breaks, lunchtime, and off-site activities as required.

Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Assist with preparing resources and setting up activities tailored to the pupil’s needs.
