Teaching Assistant job summary

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Work closely with small groups of pupils to support their literacy development
- Prepare learning materials and assist with engaging classroom activities.
- Provide individualised support to help pupils reach their personal goals.
- Collaborate with teachers and colleagues to deliver creative, tailored learning experiences.

- You should bring a positive, resilient attitude and empathy, understanding the unique challenges our pupils face every day. Flexibility and a willingness to learn and adapt are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
- A strong passion for supporting children with low levels of literacy
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and actively contribute as part of a team
- Experience in education, care, or support roles is a plus but not required — we provide full training to help you succeed

Hours of work: 32.75 per week, full time hours during term time.
Contract: This role is offered on a temporary basis until 31st May 2026, in the first instance.
Weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days)
Actual salary range: £ 26,403 to £ 28,143 (Pro rata salary £20,164 - 21,493 per annum)

The Oaks Academy (TOA), Crewe is part of The Learning Alliance (TLA) which serves families from Congleton, Crewe, Knutsford and parts of North Staffordshire. It includes Congleton High School, The Oaks Academy, Black Firs Primary School, Castle Primary School, The Knutsford Academy, The Knutsford Studio, Edgerton Primary School and Sir William Stanier.
TOA joined TLA on 1st September 2020 and will continue the journey of school improvement in this partnership. We have made significant strides in our school transformation and seek to appoint staff that understand the culture and climate of the school, our community, and the wider educational environment. Staff have a unique opportunity to work alongside colleagues in other secondary schools within the Trust. The school is also part of the Chimney House Teaching Alliance.
