Teaching Assistant job summary

Westcliff Primary School are seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and highly motivated individual to support children across all ages and all areas of the curriculum to:

 

·        Supervise and provide support to SEND pupils, both individually and in small groups, ensuring they can access learning activities.

·        Support the class teacher to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.

·        Establish constructive relationships with the pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.

·        Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning activities.

·        Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.

·        Provide feedback to the pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher.

·        Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.

·        Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with the school’s policy and procedures.

·        Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to the pupil’s responses.

·        Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.

·        Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

·        Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.

·        Assist with the supervision of pupils at break and lunch times when required.

·        Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and take responsibility for the pupils under the supervision of the teacher.

·        Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school.

·        Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.

·        In collaboration with the class teacher, organise and manage teaching space and resources to create and maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.


The position is for 27.84 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.20pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Term time only.
