The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Teaching Assistant to join our team on a maternity cover basis. This role will involve supporting pupils across EYFS and KS1 with a strong focus on delivering Read Write Inc. phonics programmes and targeted speech and language interventions. You will work both in the classroom supporting teaching staff and in small groups or one-to-one sessions to help children develop essential communication and literacy skills.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Read Write Inc. phonics sessions with confidence and fidelity.

  • Provide targeted speech and language support tailored to individual pupil needs.

  • Support classroom teachers in daily learning activities across EYFS and KS1.

  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence and independence.

  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external specialists as needed.


The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience and expertise in delivering Read Write Inc. phonics programmes.

  • Knowledge and ability to deliver speech and language interventions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with children and staff.

  • Commitment to high standards and continuous professional development.

  • Flexible, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
