Teaching Assistant job summary

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children thrive and enjoys working in a busy, rewarding school environment. The role is ideally working 3 hrs, 20 minutes per day Monday- Friday.

Wickham Market Primary School is a thriving rural primary school set in a beautiful 7-acre site, welcoming approximately 160 pupils, including a Nursery class. We pride ourselves on consistently high attendance rates, above the national average, reflecting our commitment to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. The role:

  • Supporting pupils individually and in small groups to help them access learning.
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
  • Providing additional support to pupils with varying learning needs.
  • Helping to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic about working with children.
  • Has good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is flexible, proactive, and willing to learn.
  • Has experience working with children (school experience desirable but not essential).
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
