Grade C Points 04 to 06 (£23,114 to £23,893 Full Time Equivalent) subject to pro rata. The minimum actual pro rata salary per annum for this job starts at £16,190.97.

Essential:

• A good standard of written and numeracy skills (A/I/C)

• Good communication skills both oral and written (A/I/R)

• Ability to use basic technology to support the role (A/I)

• Ability to build positive relationships with all stakeholders (A/I)

• Ability to work constructively as part of a team (A/I/R)

Desirable:

• Completion of DfES Teacher Assistant Induction Programme, or equivalent (A/C)

• Working with or caring for children of relevant age (A/I)

• Understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these (A/I)

• Emergency First Aid or First aid at work qualification (C)

• Previous experience of working with young people preferably in a school setting (A/I)

Further details about the role

As a Teaching Assistant Level 1, you will work under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff, usually in a classroom with the teacher. The role will be either a teaching assistant across all year groups or a 1-2-1 teaching assistant to work with a child who has additional needs. You will support pupils to ensure they can access learning and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
