The role is from 8.45 to 1pm - 4.25 hours a day Mon-Fri, term-time only. This includes one hour of lunch time duties per day.

The Academy Council of St. Malachy’s Catholic Primary Academy wish to appoint a caring, reliable, calm, positive and skilled person to work as part of our team. In this role, you will use a creative and impactful approach, follow the specific direction of the class teacher and work effectively within the team to improve access to learning for pupils, whilst enhancing their educational progress, personal experience and character development.

About this Role

Assist teaching staff to prepare classrooms for lessons and activities.

Assist with trips, events and activities.

Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by teaching staff.

Supervise pupils’ work and provide support where necessary.

Work with and support a designated child 1-1 as needed

Provide administrative and clerical support to teaching staff and other TAs regarding lesson planning and resources.

Monitor the needs and behaviour of pupils, and deal with these in line with the school’s behaviour policy and/or report these to teaching staff where appropriate.

Undertake pupil record keeping as requested, e.g. taking registers.

Assist teaching staff and other TAs with creating and maintaining displays throughout the school.

Establish and maintain constructive relationships with pupils’ parents and deliver pastoral support as required.

Be a good role model to pupils in terms of behaviour and attitude, upholding the school’s Code of Conduct at all times.

Work as a member of the lunchtime team (12noon - 1pm each day)

The successful candidate must:

Be supportive of the ethos of the school

Be prepared to undertake any training deemed relevant by the Leadership team

Additional Information:

While not essential, training or experience in working with children in a school environment

would be advantageous, as would recent classroom teaching assistant experience

NVQ2 or above would be an advantage, but not essential.

Grade C or above at GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths would be desirable.
