We are looking to recruit a friendly, energetic Teaching Assistant to attend to the educational, personal and social needs of pupils and any other requirements depending on the pupil’s special needs and wherever possible, make these part of the learning experience (this may include toileting, other hygiene needs, help with dressing and/or assisting with feeding if necessary)

About you
This role is for a total 35.5 hours per week, working 39 weeks per year (term time plus staff development days). The role of a teaching assistant in the Academy is vital in promoting and supporting pupils with their needs in their learning experience.
Our ideal candidate will have experience working with students in an educational setting and possess a solid understanding of a range of specialist equipment, as well as basic first aid knowledge. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are key, including the ability to guide and encourage students, liaise with colleagues, and maintain confidentiality. A strong awareness of medical conditions such as asthma and epilepsy, along with a good understanding of health and safety procedures, is essential. The successful applicant will be confident in supporting students one-to-one, adapting approaches based on individual needs and abilities. They will be capable of gathering resources for lessons, solving problems proactively, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment. Competence in using IT equipment, classroom tools, and basic manual equipment is required, as is the autonomy to support small groups, supervise during breaks, and make informed decisions within set policies and procedures.
